this international photo project developed because i was intrigued by this odd human behaviour:
people see striking objects or stunning natural phenomena and tend to put their family members right in front of them
and take pictures, then swap places and the process is repeated

bormio is a picturesque, small town in italy
the city has a lot of very nice, mostly wooden gates that lead to courtyards
i have published a book “portoni di bormioâ€
faucogney-et-la-mer – a dying village in france
between 2006 and 2012 the number of inhabitants decreased by more than 50%
homes are abandoned and are left to fall into ruin, because their heirs lack the
funds to re-build or buy out other heirs
shops are closed down, the streets are empty
the village is enveloped in a gloomy silence

the balconies range from spectacular to homely, and from
ancient to fairly modern, but they are all special
this book shows a selection of the balconies of
santillana del mar and comillas
